Taj Mahal

Taj mahal is one of world's most famous buildings. It is one of the New Seven Wonders of the world. The Taj is an immense mausoleum of white marble. It is considered the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Indian, Persian and Islamic architectural styles. The building is built between 1631 and 1648 by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife. The Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and was cited as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage."

Meaning of "Taj Mahal" is Crown Palace. One of the Shah Jahan's wifes was Mumtaz Mahal, Ornament of the Palace and the building is made in the memory of her.

The Taj Mahal is one of the most architecturally beautiful and well preserved tombs in the world.
